This week's blog resonates with me, Elizabeth. I was/am a news junkie, and I cannot afford it anymore. My mental health depends on me NOT paying attention to headlines right now. I must find my inner voice to get me to hit the pavement or trail. Any walk is a good walk.

I couldn't agree more. Or, at least, that's what the voice in my head tells me to say. I truly have sympathy for The Voice and I even try my best to be empathetic which is a word thrown around these days far too much. It reminds me of Woody Allen's "If you say you're humble, then you're not." Look it up if you want the exact quote. That's another word that gets thrown around. Humble. I could write a book.

The Voice. Sometime within the approximate three hour waking up period on most days, I begin to hear it....Stand up! Move around! Step away from the laptop which, by the way is firmly situated on my desktop and wouldn't know a lap...period (I'm trying to keep this short).

So, that's what I'm getting at. If you don't have the ambition or incentive to get out and move around somewhere other than your home, and you don't have a Voice, then you're BLANK out of luck. My Voice's last command is usually loud and clear: Get Moving! Make your bed! Get dressed! Get out! Now, I do think that's too aggressive, especially to a person at the delicate age of almost 83. When it works, though, I find me outside my building, feeling very vague about what the plan is until a neighbour comes by and says: Hi! Where are you off to today? and I say Yes!. And away I go. Ready for the unplanned chats on the sidewalk and serendipitous happenings. Fun!

What I meant to say, as another commenter said: Quote: 'Motion shifts emotion' this is gold!!!! Unquote.

Love this Sandra ❤️. Although I do think sometimes that my Voice is schizophrenic...I'm trying to figure out how to keep the Voice of Reason and Calm in full command!

I absolutely agree! Fresh air, in whatever way you breathe it in, brings peace to the soul and shifts your thinking. It hasn't been easy, but I am training myself to stay away from the news in any form. The odd headline or news on the radio while driving is just about all I can handle. Am I anxious yes, but I choose to focus on what's important in my life and control what I can.
