Really love this, Elizabeth. Yes, the real magic is the gathering not the perfection of the foods. I’ve been in a book club (20 years this summer!) and we have a potluck after our book discussion. Some of my best memories are when one of the dishes came out wonky or not quite right but still edible, lol!
I’m originally from Minnesota, and am happy to share that potlucks have *never* gone out of fashion there lol. And, thanks to our more traditional food choices, it’s a fair bet every family’s comfort food will make an appearance 😉
I live for potlucks! Since I’m usually cooking just for myself (my husband has a very unevolved palate and not into trying much new), they’re the perfect way to try out new recipes and share old favorites. Thanks for this lovely ode to a potluck!
Thank you Shell! Funny about the definitions--they're not a standing feature but lately they just seem to fit into the flow. Maybe they should become a trademark of Delicious Bits?

The best memories!
Lovely article, Elizabeth! And your comment at the end about the gift of communal table captures the essence of eating together.
Thank you Annada! I finally have left my potluck overachiever anxiety behind me 😊

We’ve got it all!
Glad to hear it! I think EVERY culture has a three bean dish 😋

Thank you Amie! I love them too and think they deserve a big revival.
Haha, those comments at the top sound like me!
A lovely post once again Elizabeth, I always enjoy your dictionary definitions, and a lovely looking salad too!

This word nerd says 💯. Oooh, and I'd love a thesaurus element too.
Now you're talking! 😊
I don’t get this excited about recipes often - this is fabulous!
It is so so good and so easy. I was very happy to have a bit left over the next day 😊
I'm ne of those...so greatful you took the time to cook for me!
I am always a grateful guest too, Ellen!
Trying immediately!!
You will LOVE this.
Loving the look of the recipe for grilled radishes, definitely going to give it a go.
So lovely and unexpected. Takes the peppery edge off a bi5 and the flavours meld together beautifully!
